About Us

At the Human Development Trust, our focus is to ensure that every individual has access to education, healthcare and ample livelihood opportunities. We aim to provide a methodical structure to the existing institutions working towards this goal, in order to guarantee that their mission is carried out in the most efficient and impactful manner. We see to it that the available resources are utilized to their maximum capacity and in a way that aligns with their purpose. Consequently, we create a consortium of organizations with a common purpose and collaborate with them to raise funds, cultivate innovative models and develop scalable solutions to tackle complex social challenges.

Rubina Nafees Fatima

Founder & Director, SAFA

Rubina Nafees Fatima is a social entrepreneur, social worker and certified instructor. She is a harbinger of positive change and founded the Safa organization, which helps marginalized communities improve their livelihood. She setup multiple skill training units and 2 brands under Safa to help women. Before starting Safa, she worked as a Travel Professional in the Middle East and then as an entrepreneur establishing Explorer Travel School. Her inclination to empower women won her awards and recognition such as Samvidha award in 2016, FICCI Ladies organization Woman Achiever Award in 2017, Pride of Telangana (emerging NGOs category) in 2019, Australia Award (Export Council & DFAT Sydney in 2019) to highlight a few. She believes that empowered inclusive communities create a strong nation, and she is constantly engaged in implementing her beliefs.

Mohammed Ahmed is a driven businessman. He is the Managing Director of M.M Dawn Education Pvt. Ltd., the franchisee providing pre-primary education under the brand ‘Kangaroo Kids’. He runs two branches of Kangaroo Kids in Hyderabad, located at Banjara Hills and Hitech City Madhapur. He completed his schooling at the Hyderabad Public School and then attended the Nizam College at Hyderabad. He is also invested in Real Estate Development and is a Partner at two infrastructure firms, Dawn Builders and Developers and Silver Zenith Builders LLP. His has multiple other interests like travelling and enthusiastically works towards wildlife conservation and social service.

Amir Ullah Khan

Research Director, CDPP

Amir Ullah Khan is a renowned Professor of Economics at some of the highly regarded universities across India. He holds a PhD in Economics from Jamia Millia in Delhi. He is the Research Director at the Center for Development Policy and Practice, where research and analytical aid is provided to government and private institutions. He is a Professor at the Indian School of Business, MCRHRDI and NALSAR and works as the Adjunct Professor at TISS and Manipal Institute of Technology. He is also a member of the Governing Boards of the Digital Empowerment Foundation, Goonj and Gyan Shala. He is passionate about helping minorities and providing aid to the underprivileged. Prior to joining CDPP, he was the Deputy Director at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and also worked as the Director of the India Development Foundation.

Saleema Razvi

Senior Economist, Copenhagen Consensus Centre

Saleema Razvi is a Doctor of Economics, having completed her PhD from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade at New Delhi. She works as a Senior Economist at the Copenhagen Consensus Centre. She is actively involved in social work, providing aid and relief, through various organizations. Aside from being on the Advisory Board of the Human Development Trust, she is also a member of the Advisory Board of SDIF and of the Academic Board at CDPP.

Anjum Babukhan

Lead Consultant, Edvantage Leadership Institute

Anjum Babukhan is an enthusiastic learner and has multifaceted interests. She is the Lead Consultant of Edvantage Leadership Institute and the Founder Director of Glendale Academy International. She completed her Master’s in Education in Human Development & Psychology from Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is a visionary leader and has authored the book, ‘ABC’s of Brain Compatible Learning’. She has multiple accolades to her name such as being a TEDx Speaker, Teacher Trainer, Adult Development Facilitator and Executive Coach. She has developed the Whole Person Approach at HGSE and her ‘ikigai’ is to help others “illuminate the full spectrum of human potential.” Through Edvantage, she provides key insights from Neuroscience, Multiple Intelligence and Leadership Development with her experience of 25+ years.

Mohammed Azam Khan

Mohammed Azam Khan is a keen social worker and is continuously involved in various projects across Hyderabad to provide relief. He completed his Master’s in Business Administration from Osmania University. He is the Director of the Social Data Initiatives Forum and the Director of Nexagrid and also works as a Partner at F.D Khan and Sons. His notable work in society includes providing education scholarships, relief and rehabilitation during natural calamities and data analysis to investigate the areas where social work may be required.

Ashhar Farhan

Founder, Lamakaan

Ashhar Farhan is an entrepreneur, technologist and investor. He joined Integrated Data Systems as a part-time design engineer while still a student and built a paged memory system for BBC micro and then a Point of Sales terminal based on it. In 1987, he wrote the first antivirus for the Brain Virus that was infecting floppy boot discs. In 1989, he started Computer Corporation and wrote an Urdu Composing System to address the problems of Urdu Publishing. He is the co-founder of The Indus Entrepreneurs, Hyderabad chapter and started Phonestack Technologies to productise the emerging VoIP technologies and provide call metering, switching, routing and business services to VoIP operators. In 2010, he established Lamakaan, the open cultural centre that has been the central place for start-ups, arts and cultural activities in Hyderabad. He co-founded the Daana Network to alleviate the financial distress of small organic farmers.

Mujtaba Hasan Askari

Founder Trustee, Helping Hand Foundation

Mr. Askari is a member of the Advisory Board of the Human Development Trust. He is the founder trustee of the Helping Hand Foundation, which he started in 2007. He completed his Bachelors of Engineering and then a Master’s in Business Administration from Osmania University. He worked at Infosys Technologies from 2000 to 2014 before shifting his full-time attention to the Foundation. He is devoted to helping the underprivileged and has actively been providing Healthcare and Medical Relief through his work. He has been involved in setting up infrastructure and services such as primary healthcare centers, rehabilitation center, home for the aged, ambulance services, etc.

Mohammed Zakiuddin

Regional Director and Head of Operations, Sahulat Microfinance Society

Mohammed Zakiuddin is a social worker and he is committed to helping the underprivileged sections of society. He is the Regional Director and Head of Operations at the Sahulat Microfinance Society since 2012. He promotes interest- free microfinance in India and works to help small, unbanked businesses get access to regulated and ethical finance. His mission is to alleviate and transform the financial conditions of economically backward communities, especially the communities who deal free of interest. He holds a Bachelors degree in Engineering from Bangalore University. Before joining Sahulat, he worked as the Managing Director of Pegasus Fineplast Ltd for six years.

Khalil Ahmed

Khalil Ahmed is the Director of Reveuse Fashion and Lifestyles Private Limited, and United Overseas Investments Ltd. He had been a Co-Founder & Former Executive Director of Shantha Biotechnics Limited and Managing Director of Food Krafters & Services LLP. He is actively involved in social work and serves as a trustee for various organizations such as H.E.H Prince Mukarram Jah Trust for Education & Learning, Urwah Charitable Trust, and Foundation of Economic & Educational Development (FEED). He is also a Founder & Chairman of Karnataka Zakat and Charitable Trust, supporting poor students with scholarships. Mr. Ahmed is passionate about rejuvenating the old city of Hyderabad and promoting food and tourism and helping people generate their livelihoods.

Safa

Safa is an organization that aims to improve the livelihood of women and the youth of Hyderabad’s marginalized communities through education, skill training and placements. It focuses on assembling various products to aid its mission, and exercises capacity building to facilitate socio-economic development. It has established brands like Artizania and Luqma to encourage employment.

Helping Hand Foundation

Helping Hand Foundation provides Healthcare services and Medical Relief to the underprivileged sections in urban and rural areas alike. Their projects include setting up primary healthcare centers, a minor operation theatre, a rehabilitation center, a home for the aged and diagnostic centers, performing referral services and providing ambulance services to name a few. They have multiple programs to promote free healthcare among the less fortunate and they work with various hospitals and associations to fulfil their goals.

It provides small, unbanked businesses with access to regulated, ethical finance. The goal is to alleviate and transform the financial conditions of economically backward communities. The entire operation runs on cutting-edge technology based on concepts of cloud computing, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

CDPP is an organization which provides research and training facilities to both the government and private companies. They provide high quality research backed with strong evidence and reliable data. They generate answers and contribute innovative solutions to public problems. They train individuals to enhance receptivity and sensitization to global practices and to uphold international standards. They assist in research for policy making in matters related to inclusion, diversity and the safety of the marginalized groups.

Social Data Initiatives Forum

SDIF works to provide solutions using data driven models, to make a long-lasting difference. It has a large network of Social Workers, Philanthropists, NGOs and Volunteers working together on various humanitarian projects, based in Hyderabad. Their work includes giving educational scholarships, flood relief, supplying oxygen support to government hospitals and providing food and other necessities to underprivileged families during the COVID outbreak, through their Free Ration mobile app.
