The Centre for Development Policy and Practice (CDPP), as part of The Bazm-e-Sukhan, warmly invites you to an evening of Khawateen Mushaira & Kavi Sammelan, featuring some of the finest women poets writing in Urdu and Hindi.
The history of Urdu poetry includes extraordinary women who broke social boundaries, pioneered feminist literature, and brought distinct emotional and political perspectives to the Urdu language. From courtesans in royal courts to modern anti-establishment activists, women writers from Mahlqa Bai, writing in 1790, to Parveen Shakir in 1990 have significantly shaped and reshaped Urdu literature.
