The Centre for Development Policy and Practice (CDPP) invites you to a discussion on “The Complexity of Lawmaking”, exploring the processes, institutions, and challenges involved in the functioning of legislatures and the making of laws.
The discussion will feature Chakshu Roy, Head of Legislative and Civic Engagement at PRS Legislative Research. An expert on the rules and procedures of Parliament and its functioning, Chakshu works on programmes aimed at strengthening the capacity of legislators at both the central and state levels. His work also focuses on supporting civil society organisations in engaging with legislatures and strengthening public understanding of parliamentary and legislative processes.
He has been involved in setting up the first comprehensive database of state legislation in India and regularly writes on legislative issues and the strengthening of parliamentary institutions. Chakshu is also an IVLP and INK Fellow and holds bachelor’s degrees in Commerce and Law from Delhi University.
