he Centre for Development Policy and Practice (CDPP) invites you to an evening celebrating the enduring tradition of the Doha—a poetic form that has travelled across languages, generations and traditions, carrying reflections on love, ethics, humanity and everyday life.

Dohas: The Language of Peace and Love

Lamakaan, Near GVK One, Road No. 10, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad

The evening will explore the rich literary tradition of the Doha and its continuing relevance today, bringing together poetry, interpretation and audience participation.

The programme will feature:

Keynote Address — “The Journey of the Doha”
Professor Arshia Jabeen, Head, Department of Urdu, University of Hyderabad

Voice of the Youth — “Dohas & Their Meaning”
Presentations by students of the University of Hyderabad

Interactive Game — “Recognise & Complete”
An engaging session inviting the audience to recognise and complete well-known Dohas.

The event will celebrate the work of poets including Ameer Khusro, Sur Das, Abdul Rahim Khan-i-Khanan, Kabir Das, Miranji Shams-ul-Ushshaq, and others, while reflecting on the themes of peace, love, tolerance and humanity embedded in their poetry.

Tea and snacks will be provided.
