Despite improvements in India’s gender indicators, large digital and STEM participation gaps persist. Reports by ITU, UNESCO, and McKinsey highlight women’s limited representation in technology and barriers like affordability, bias, and lack of digital skills. The author argues that inclusive governance, community-led digital infrastructure, and gender-sensitive policy reforms are essential to ensure equitable participation, digital empowerment, and sustainable progress in the digital age.
